The aim of the school is to provide comprehensive educational, and audiological support services for babies and young pre-school children with hearing impairment.
The school believes in the philosophy that it is the right for every child to have chances to learn to talk.
All the children at BALAVIDYALAYA, including the ones with severe or profound hearing loss, learn to speak. The barrier imposed by hearing impairment is overcome through appropriate intervention.
The goal of the intervention is to help the children make best use of their residual hearing through constant use of suitable hearing aids and develop age appropriate languages skills. The curriculum followed at school prepares each child to participate in the mainstream education at the earliest possible age. The children enter the regular school, whenever they demonstrate the skills necessary for competing successfully with their hearing peer.
The Institute aims at training teachers in Early Intervention techniques. The teachers are trained to help infants and young children with Hearing Impairment acquire age appropriate verbal language skills and readiness skills required for integrating them into mainstream schools. |
